Again this year I attended the launch of the World Watch List's 2024 report from the charity Open Doors UK & Ireland and met with the charity's Chief Executive, Henriette Blyth (pictured below).

Open Doors compiles the World Watch List, ranking the top 50 countries in the world where it is hardest to be a Christian.

In these countries, being a Christian results in discrimination, harassment or even death. It was harrowing to hear first hand accounts from the victims of this persecution.

The countries which persecute citizens for their religion generally have a poor human rights record, which is not surprising.

Freedom of religion or belief is a fundamental human right.

I applaud the work of Open Doors which works across the world to support Christians who face persecution for their faith.
