WESTMINSTER LEADER VISITS INNOVATIVE DALRY-BASED COMPANY

I was delighted that Scottish National Party (SNP) Westminster Leader, Stephen Flynn MP recently joined me in a visit to Dsm in Dalry, North Ayrshire.

DSM is a global purpose-led science-based company active in Health, Nutrition and Bioscience, which has begun construction of a new manufacturing facility at its Dalry site.

The plant will significantly increase global production of Bovaer®, DSM’s unique methane-reducing feed additive for cattle which will reduce global methane emissions and contribute to worldwide methane reduction targets and Stephen was keen to learn more about this innovative company.

This development of DSM’s Dalry site has been supported by the The Scottish Government through Scottish Enterprise.

This world-leading project and multi-million pound investment will make Scotland the home of this innovative product, underlining that Scotland continues to lead the way in delivering a net zero future.

DSM Dalry is one of North Ayrshire's most significant employers, with over 400 staff and around 150 to 200 contractors.

The site has been producing vitamins since 1958 and today the main production processes are Vitamin C, Calcium-D-Pantothenate (vitamin B5) and Panthenol (proVitamin B5).

The fact that Dalry has been chosen as the site for production of Bovaer is a huge vote of confidence in the Dalry workforce.

DSM has just merged with Firmenich, another innovative company, and is now dsm-firmenich and together they now employ over 30,000 people over 60 countries with 340 sites.

The Dalry site remains the largest of the UK sites with about 50% of the 800 or so people employed by the company in the UK. Dalry also remains very much one of the larger core sites of the new merged company, supplying to all 4 of the new Business Units with current and future products (Bovaer®).
