WEST OF SCOTLAND PADEL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023

It was a treat to attend the West of Scotland Padel Championships 2023 in Stevenston at the weekend.

This fun, exciting and relatively new sport is one of the fastest growing and is an innovative form of tennis that’s easy to learn and extremely sociable.

The Championship saw players from North Ayrshire take on the best padel players from across the rest of UK, based on Lawn Tennis Association rankings.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jorge Martinez Del Campo and Francis Langan, winners of the 2023 Men’s Scottish Padel Championship, pictured below.

Aimee Gibson and Catherine Rose triumphed in the Women's round round tournament.

Padel is one of the fastest growing sports and is an innovative form of tennis that’s fun, easy to learn and extremely sociable.

The sport is played on an enclosed court that is about a third of the size of a tennis court. All ages and abilities can play together and I was glad to try my hand at it when the tournament ended.
