WEST COAST FURNITURE BANK - STEVENSTON
This week I was really pleased to have the opportunity to visit the West Coast Furniture Bank in Stevenston, Ayrshire.
This charity has been operating since 2007 and assists those who need help to furnish their homes with the necessities.
Clients may be those who have secured accommodation following a period of homelessness or those who are fleeing domestic abuse or other difficulties.
The charity is able to provide furniture such as suites, tables, chairs, beds, drawer units and wardrobes, as well as fridges, freezers, cookers and washing machines, free of charge.
The bank works with Social Services, Housing Associations, Criminal Justice Services and organisations such as Scottish Women's Aid, providing household items which otherwise service users would simply have to go without.
I was very impressed by the commitment of the whole team to support those who are experiencing difficulties without judgement.
Thanks to Fiona and Gerry McMahon (Secretary and Chairman) for inviting me and to all the team who made me so welcome.
The whole team works so hard to ensure others have basic necessities for their homes - Iain Preston (Vice Chairman) and drivers Billy, Garry, Kenny for whom nothing is too much trouble.
