VAT CUT ON PETROL AND DIESEL ESSENTIAL AND URGENT DURING COST OF LIVING CRISIS

I have repeatedly called on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to cut VAT on petrol and diesel. His response in his Spring Statement was to reduce fuel duty by 5 pence is woefully inadequate.

The high cost of petrol and diesel does not just impact motorists, they increase transportation costs for goods and services, accelerating rising inflation across the whole economy.

With inflation set to rise to a staggering 10 per cent by the autumn, I again highlighted the need to cut VAT on fuel in the Commons. The Chancellor must act now to tackle this cost of living crisis.
