UK GOVERNMENT MUST TACKLE MISLEADING WEBSITES
There are a number of privately run websites purporting to be UK Government sites, appearing to offer assistance on a range of issues such as renewing driving licenses and passports or even with tax affairs. Such sites often have premium rate telephone numbers and levying expensive charges for very little assistance, misleading people into handing over their hard-earned cash.
While these sites manage to just stay on the right side of the law by having small, easy to miss disclaimers, we need urgent action to crack down on this profiteering. I asked the Leader of the House, Jacob Rees-Mogg, what action his Government would take to crack down on such practices and protect people from being misled.
