UK GOVERNMENT MUST ACT AFTER LANDMARK RULING FOR WASPI WOMEN

Last week the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman concluded, after a detailed investigation "that the Department for Work and Pensions - DWP - had failed to act quickly enough once it knew a significant proportion of women were not aware of changes to their State Pension age."

In view of this ruling, which completely vindicates the WASPI - Women Against State Pension Inequality Campaign, I have written to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions as below and urged the UK Government to do the decent thing - the only correct and just course of action is for the UK Government to fully and finally compensated for their lost pension. In addition, these women should receive an apology for the unnecessary hardship the acceleration of their pension age without due notice, has caused to them.
