UK GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE DELIVERS ADDITIONAL £40BILLION OF DEBT TO UK TAXPAYERS

The Leader of the House today was unable to explain why UK taxpayers should be expected to pay for Westminster incompetence after I challenged her over the conclusions of the Chair of the Office for Budget Responsibility, specifically that three successive and short-lived Tory Governments have cost taxpayers an additional £40 billion of debt with a series of dramatic swings in policy with five major fiscal statements delivered by three consecutive governments.

The scale of this colossal and avoidable burden on the taxpayer is equivalent to £600 for every man, woman and child across the whole UK.

Almost as shocking is the refusal of this Government to take any responsibility for this eye-watering incompetence.
