UK GOVERNMENT IGNORING DISCRIMINATION AGAINST YOUNG WOMEN

Today I challenged the Minister for Women & Equalities on the deeply discriminatory Young Parent Penalty for those claiming Universal Credit.

Single parents under the age of 25, 90% of whom are women, and the majority of whom are in work, are denied the same level of social security as those aged 25 and above, putting young parents and their children at greater risk of poverty.

I challenged the UK Government to abolish this discriminatory practice, but the Minister decided to ignore the question completely and decided to instead talk about Scottish independence!
