TROPHY HUNITNG BILL PASSES IMPORTANT STAGE IN WESTMINSTER

I joined distinguished actor Peter Egan to support an end to trophy hunting.

The Bill to ban the import of hunting trophies to the UK recently passed its Third Reading and is not being considered by the House of Lords.

The Bill seeks to help protect endangered animals.

Trophy hunting - where hunters pay sometimes thousands of dollars for the right to kill usually big game animals like elephants and lions - is a cruel and barbaric practice.

Shooting wild animals for fun is cruel, wasteful and pushes endangered species closer to extinction.

Hunters often bring parts of the animals as trophies, like skulls, skins, tusks or claws back to the UK.

Importing these cruel "trophies" into the UK is set to become illegal once this Bill finishes its passage through Westminster and I know many, many people across the UK are delighted about this.
