TREASURY MUST ACT ON FUEL PRICES
As the cost of filling the tank on an average family car soars to £100, the need for cuts to the VAT charged on fuel duty is now beyond urgent. £46 of the price of that average tank of petrol is tax, with the Treasury raking in additional billions of pounds as a result, just as households and businesses struggle, driving inflation across the whole economy.
I once again urged the UK Government to introduce a temporary 10 per cent reduction in VAT on fuel to assist households, businesses and consumers with the cost of living crisis and to drive down inflation.
