TORIES CONTINUE ATTACK ON DEVOLUTION

I again challenged the UK Government on its decision to deliberately bypass devolved governments with the Levelling Up Fund, the replacement of EU Structural Funds, so they can spend on projects in devolved areas.

EU Structural Funds had the direct involvement of Ministers from devolved nations, yet the Tories have scrapped this with the Levelling Up fund. This means that the Tory UK Government, which has been repeatedly rejected by Scottish voters, will make spending decisions in devolved areas without consulting Scotland’s democratically elected SNP Scottish Government. UK Government Ministers and Civil Servants in Whitehall will be making decisions about Scotland’s spending priorities which is unconstitutional and unacceptable.
