TACKLING CHILD POVERTY MUST BE AT HEART OF SO-CALLED “LEVELLING UP”

I challenged the now former Secretary of State for Levelling Up to explain how the UK Government’s ‘flagship’ levelling up agenda will reduce child poverty.

A shocking 25 per cent of children in North Ayrshire and Arran are growing up in poverty, a figure set to rise thanks to the UK Government trashing the economy and soaring energy costs. Within its very limited powers, the Scottish Government is doing what it can to mitigate Tory policies, but it seems the UK Government is less concerned about making sure tackling child poverty is at the heart of its vision.
