STUDENTS STRUGGLE WITH COST OF LIVING CRISIS

The Tory government has allowed the cost-of-living crisis to spiral out of control with many households struggling to cope as inflation remains stubbornly high.

The Office for National Statistics has reported that almost a third of students in England are being forced to choose between eating and learning as they struggle with rising costs, and yet the Chancellor completely ignored this in his package of support for those on the lowest incomes.

Whilst in Scotland the SNP abolished the previous UK Labour Government’s tuition fees, which now stand at a minimum of £9,250 per year, in England, these costs only add to student hardship and place barriers in the way of higher educational opportunities

The UK Government must step up and ensure all students can afford to continue their studies.
