SOARING FOOD PRICES CONTINUE TO IMPACT HOUSEHOLDS

I raised the impact of food price inflation, which remains twice as high as general inflation across the UK.

The Minister’s response was lame and unconcerned, meanwhile, many households struggle to put food on the table.

40% of adults in in the UK say they are spending more than usual to pay for what they normally buy when food shopping and more than 4 in 10 (44%) adults said they were buying less food when shopping.

Meanwhile, some households report that their household had run out of food and could not afford to buy more between October 2023 and January 2024.

This is shameful in 2024 UK.
