SECRETARY OF STATE AGREES TO MEETING OVER TRAVEL INSURANCE CONCERNS
I raised concerns in the Commons regarding travel insurance following the findings of a Which? report, which revealed that travellers are unclear about the level of Covid-related disruption their travel insurance provides, with less than 1% of UK travel insurance policies providing full, comprehensive cover for such eventualities. This can only undermine consumer confidence in travel insurance during these difficult times which ultimately harms the travel industry as it prepares to scale up its operations.
I am delighted that the Secretary of State indicated that he will now arrange for the Aviation Minister to meet with me to discuss how the UK Government is engaging with the travel insurance industry to ensure that in these uncertain times, consumers have the protection and cover they need, should their travel plans be disrupted by Covid19.
