SCOTLAND PAYS THE PRICE FOR UK GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE

When the latest Chancellor of the Exchequer ripped up his predecessor’s disastrous ‘mini-budget’ he announced that plans to increase the devolved budgets by millions of pounds for cost of living support would be abandoned. The UK Government has already slashed devolved budgets by billions this financial year.

I challenged the UK Government about how slashing devolved budgets supports their levelling-up agenda. In addition, the Minister either does not know or is pretending not to know that Scotland’s budget has been cut by £1.2billion as DIRECT result of the chaos caused by the previous PM’s failed mini-budget alongside soaring inflation and energy costs.
