SCANDAL OF FRESH FOOD SHORTAGES UNIQUE TO UK

I led for the SNP last week in the House of Commons on the important issue of fresh food shortages as fruit and veg supermarket shelves are bare across the UK.

The UK Government has failed to take any responsibility, insisting that this is due to “seasonal weather”, yet, the UK is uniquely affected, with no other European country reporting fresh food shortages.

Farmers across the UK have been warning of the risk of fresh food shortages for some time as a result of rising costs and Brexit, as the Chief Executive of Sainsbury’s and the Chair of Save British Food have, in turn reported that food supplies and food production have been disrupted by Brexit.

It seems “taking back control” has emptied our supermarket shelves!
