RISING STATE PENSION AGE TREND SET TO CONTINUE

It is not acceptable that the state pension age should continue to rise unchecked.

The reality is that by the mid-2050s people will be expected wait until they are at least 70 years or older in order to retire.

This can only add to the scandal of increasing pensioner poverty levels in addition to the poverty into which women born in the 1950s were thrown when their pension age was increased with little or no notice.

I challenged the UK Government to indicate what impact assessments it undertakes on levels of pensioner poverty when decisions about state pension age are made.
