REMOVING BARRIERS TO WORK FOR DISABLED PEOPLE
Many people are prevented from working due to ill-health. However, many disabled people can and want to enter the world of secure and sustainable employment.
The UK Government’s announcement that it will make changes to help with this with 2.55 million people living with long-term illness.
It is vital that disabled people who are able to work are supported into employment with barriers removed so that the disability employment gap – which stands at around 25% - is addressed.
There needs to be urgent improvement in the Access to Work scheme, as right now, thousands of people living with a disability are facing severe delays to secure the support and equipment they need to do their jobs.
I urged the Minister to address these concerns to enable all who can work and want to work, to be able to enter the workplace. 👇
