REMEMBERING SREBRENICA

Today on the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide we are Remembering Srebrenica the worst atrocity to take place on European soil since the Second World War.

8000 Muslims were systematically murdered in the town of Srebrenica in Bosnia due to their Muslim identity, while close to 100,000 Muslims were killed throughout the country during the Bosnian War, as Serb forces undertook a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing. The genocide also saw over 2 million people displaced and tens of thousands of women raped all because they were Bosnian Muslims.

It is vital that we continue to remember these terrible events and the effect of hatred and intolerance, so we can never again allow such horrors to take place.
