RECOGNISING VALUE OF SMALL CHARITIES - SMALL CHARITY WEEK - 19-23 JUNE

I was proud this week to help celebrate the work of charities which provide vital support to local communities in North Ayrshire & Arran and across Scotland as part of Small Charity Week - 19 – 23 June.

During the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, small charities have been the lifeblood of communities in Scotland.

Small Charity Week is a chance to say thank you, and also raise awareness of the importance of supporting our local charities and recognising the contribution volunteers make to our communities.

So many of us have reason to be grateful to the small and local charities across my constituency who work tirelessly in our towns.

Small charities make up over 80% of the Scottish charity sector, with most focusing on local issues and relying entirely on volunteers. They are an integral part of the fabric of our communities, ranging from support groups to tackle loneliness and deliver front-line services to village halls, play groups, and sports clubs.

Small Charity Week is a chance for us to thank this sector for all they do to improve our communities.
