RAISING AWARENESS OF LESS SURVIVABLE CANCERS

Earlier this week I met with representatives from from the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce to discuss the six less survivable common cancers: cancers of the lungs, liver, brain, oesophagus, pancreas and stomach.

Sadly, only 16% of people diagnosed with one of these cancers will survive

for 5 years or more.

Over 90,000 people will be diagnosed with one of these cancers in the

UK each year – a quarter of all cancer diagnoses. These six cancers

account for 40% of all cancer deaths.

It is vital to improve outcomes for those diagnosed with these cancers and their families.
