KILBIRNIE AMBULANCE AND FIRE STATION OPEN DAY
Yesterday there was a hugely successful Open Day giving the public the opportunity to visit Kilbirnie Ambulance Station and Kilbirnie Fire Station and to find out more about the work of our local emergency services, including Police Scotland and Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team.
It provided opportunities for interactive experiences for all ages in Kilbirnie with local volunteer and charity organisations from across the Garnock Valley also in attendance.
I enjoyed seeing a 1970 Dennis Fire Engine at close quarters - the only one still in existence, chatting to Sharon Gibson of the Scottish Ambulance Service about her work and speaking to retired Sergeant Jim Manson and admiring a 1966 Hillman Imp, once used as a patrol car by Dunbartonshire Police.
