The infected blood scandal has caused great trauma, heartbreak, and despair for thousands of families across Scotland and the UK who, for decades have watched as their loved ones have suffered and died as a result of this scandal.

The recommendations made for an independent and trustworthy body to administer compensation to those who have been demanding justice for so very long should be welcomed, but the UK Government is yet to publish its response to the compensation framework and refuse to commit a date for when this will be published.

I called on the UK Government to extend the support offered by existing schemes to the families and carers of victims until they are prepared to deliver a comprehensive response as to what will be done to ensure fair and full compensation is administered to all those impacted by this scandal.
