The roots of the gender pension gap lies in the gender pay gap which impacts women in lower paid jobs.
Without even a definition of the gender pensions gap, the UK Government’s warm words about working to address this ring hollow as the entire pension system discriminates against women in a number of ways.
Meanwhile, women are much more likely to live in poverty in later life than men.
I again urged the UK Government to tackle this shocking gender inequality.
The difference in pension income between men and women stands at a shameful 40.3 per cent, and yet the UK Government does not even have a suitable definition for the gender pension gap, let alone effective measures to reduce it.
