HORRIFIC PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS CONTINUES WORLDWIDE

Freedom of Religion or Belief is a fundamental right still under attack in so many countries.

When I participated in a debate on this issue last week in the Commons, I commended the work of Open Doors which highlights the persecution of Christians worldwide and seeks to provide support to them as they suffer horrific routine violence and discrimination.

The situation for persecuted Christians in countries such as India, Egypt, Syria and North Korea and Pakistan is truly grave some of which I highlighted in my contribution.

Social media firms must to do more to tackle harassment, abuse and violence circulating on their platforms, with greater resources needed deployed towards moderating content which organises the persecution of religious minorities online.
