FUNERAL OF JACK RANSOM

Today saw the funeral of Jack Ransom where I had the true honour of delivering a eulogy to this great, heroic man.

Jack is believed to have been the last survivor of the 13,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers who were forced to work on the Burmese Railway of Death.

Having celebrated his 103rd birthday in April, today we sadly paid our final tributes to Jack, our very own "Scottish Cockney".

Our thoughts and prayers are with his beloved widow, Maddie and all his family.

Rest in Peace, Jack. We shall always remember you - your infectious smile, the mischievous twinkle in your eyes, your wonderful anecdotes, your unfailing optimism and zest for life.
