EYE WATERING TAX BURDEN ON GRADUATES
I challenged the UK Government on the decision to break yet another Tory manifesto commitment with the decision to freeze the student loan repayment threshold.
This decision, coupled with the impending hike to National Insurance contributions, will see graduates earning just over £27,000 pay a marginal tax rate of an eye-watering 42.25%.
This is an unacceptable burden on our young people amidst a cost of living crisis and I called on the UK Government to explain how this can possibly be fair. Sadly, and predictably, it couldn’t. 👇
