ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS MONTH

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Endometriosis is a condition where cells similar to the ones lining the womb are found elsewhere in the body. Each month these cells react to the menstrual cycle and cause inflammation and pain and the formation of scar tissue (adhesions).

This condition which can be debilitating, affects 1 in 10 women and the impact can be felt for life.

Shockingly it takes an average of 8 years before diagnosis and there is no known cause or cure.

Endometriosis Awareness Month is about ensuring more people are aware of this condition and how to access advice and support for those living with this condition.
