CRUEL TOLL OF DEMENTIA AND NEED FOR MORE RESEARCH
I spoke in a debate to mark Dementia Action Week, where I called for more research into this dreadful and terrifying disease.
My own mother-in-law has been struck by this condition which so I have seen just how how cruel and debilitating it is.
I am pleased the Scottish Government has plans to create a National Care Service which will support the estimated 90,000 people in Scotland who live with dementia, as well as their families.
However, with 1.3 million people in the UK estimated to be living with dementia by 2020, and it is vital that we make progress in dementia research so that we can improve early diagnosis and treatment.
