CLEAN AIR DAY

I was delighted to support Clean Air Day earlier this week with the theme “air pollution dirties every organ in your body”.

This day highlighted how air pollution can harm every organ in the body and shorten lives, contribute towards chronic illness and put people more at risk from COVID-19. When polluted air is breathed, it can inflame the lining of the lungs and move into our bloodstream, affecting every organ in the body. This can lead to lung disease, heart disease, dementia and strokes.

In its sixth year, Clean Air Day is working to raise awareness of the importance of reducing pollution, supported by Asthma + Lung UK and Client Earth and Global Action Plan

Although work is ongoing to encourage people to walk more where possible, there are a range of actions people can take to tackle air pollution in their own way.
