BUSINESS ENERGY SUPPORT CERTAINTY CANNOT WAIT

The level of support offered to businesses with soaring energy costs was always too little, too late, and what support there is available is due to end on 31 March.

Many businesses such as bars and restaurants, corner shops and community post offices are facing a financial cliff edge if this support is withdrawn.

Local businesses are vital to both our economy and our social infrastructure, and they need more certainty over these costs. I called on the UK Government to announce its plans for ongoing support for businesses as soon as possible so they can plan for their future. Otherwise we will see more businesses close with jobs lost across our communities. This must be a priority for the UK Government.
