ARRAN FINE FOODS

I had a really interesting visit to Arran Fine Foods in Lamlash on the Isle of Arran.

This company dates back to the early 1970s when it began life as the Arran Mustard Company established by retired CID Officer, Ian Russell.

Now it is a Ferroro-related company following the merger of Fox's Biscuits and Burton's Foods Ltd Burton's Foods Ltd combined.

A significant employer on Arran, the factory has 19 employees and produces chutney, mustard, preserves and salad dressings.

The produce of this factory is recognisably prestigious, securing 12 Great Taste awards since 2002.

It was really interesting to get a tour of the factory floor where the magic happens to see all the hard work and precision which goes into each container of this delicious produce.

Thank you to Sarah, Charlie and Lesley for making me so welcome, explaining the labour of love that goes into this produce and for discussing the challenges and opportunities facing island businesses during these difficult times.

If you have yet to sample any of the delicious fayre from Arran Fine Foods, I can highly recommend this produce. You are in for a treat!
