ANIMAL ROAD ACCIDENT AWARENESS DAY
Today is Animal Road Accident Awareness Day.
No animal deserves to be abandoned following a road traffic accident, suffering and dying when it could be saved.
Today is a day to help raise awareness amongst drivers to urge them to take any cats with which their cars collide to the nearest vet for treatment.
Accidents will sadly always happen, and even the very best of drivers could accidently hit an animal unexpectedly.
Research by CatsMatter has estimated that 630 cats are hit by cars every single day across the UK. 25% of these incidents will be fatal.
Autumn is statistically the most dangerous time for cats.
However, this is an issue affecting all animals across the UK.
This awareness day aims to send a message. We cannot stop animals wandering on to road but we can all become more aware of the best course of action when a driver collides with an animal.
