ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUP ON FUNERALS AND BEREAVEMENT

I was glad to have the opportunity to attend the launch of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Funeral and Bereavment’s Annual Report this week.

This report highlights the impact of COVID-19 on the bereaved, the isolation felt as funeral numbers faced restrictions, the unresolved grief of not being able to attend funerals of lost loved ones as well as how the funeral sector is evolving to meet our needs.

The funeral sector faced unprecedented challenges over the last 18 months as across the U.K. we faced the highest single year rise in death rates since the Second World War. All those working within this industry deserve our thanks for their professionalism, compassion, dedication to those we have lost and to those who seek to come to terms with loss.
