Today is International Men’s Day, with this year’s theme “Better Health for Men and Boys”.

This is extremely important given some of the truly shocking statistics surrounding men’s health.

The most likely cause of death for men under 45 is suicide, with men accounting for three out of every four suicides in the UK. Studies have also shown that men are also less likely to seek medical help than women. The hope is that practical improvements can be made to the health and wellbeing of males.

It is vital that we encourage men and boys to be more open about their feelings and their health, to enable them to live happier, longer and more fulfilled lives.

This is a matter about which I have spoken in Westminster. You can watch my speech below.
