CHANCELLOR REFUSES TO RULE OUT MORE DAMAGING SPENDING CUTS FOR SCOTLAND

With the Tories' Internal Market Bill passing the House of Commons this week, the UK has taken a step closer to a no-deal Brexit and the financial damage that this will bring. The Scottish Government estimates that this could cut £3 billion from the Scottish economy in just two years, on top of the profound impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

After the severe economic and social damage caused by ten years of Tory austerity, I called on the Chancellor to guarantee there will be no more real-term spending cuts that will even further damage the economy. Unfortunately, he gave no such reassurances but once again touted his “generosity” to the people of Scotland.
