GOVERNMENT MUST TAKE THE PROHIBITION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS SERIOUSLY

With international discussions taking place in May regarding the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, I asked the Leader of the House to explain why the UK Government is so hostile to this treaty.

The Government’s hostility is inconsistent with its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons to make good faith attempts towards the eventual abolition of nuclear weapons.

It was clear from the Government’s response it is intent on continuing to spend billions of pounds on weapons of mass destruction and will refuse to take steps to play its part in ridding the world of nuclear weapons.
