GOVE IN DENIAL OVER BREXIT DIVISIONS AND BRITISH NATIONALISM

I asked the UK Government’s Cabinet Secretary whether he thought Scotland being dragged out of the European Union against its will is likely to increase or decrease constitutional tensions in the UK.

For Mr Gove to misrepresent the SNP - which is a party of civic Nationalism- whilst his party embraces old fashioned British Nationalism, is extremely disappointing. However, he failed to respond to this point. I wonder why.

His view that Brexit will make the UK more united was met with audible laughter from across the House, which is not surprising given the growing support in Scotland for a vote to determine its own future, as Britain faces the very real prospect of leaving the EU with no deal in place, causing great harm to Scotland.
