ARDROSSAN ACADEMY

I really enjoyed the presentation from Saltcoats pupil, studying for his Baccalaureate in Science at Ardrossan Academy, Cameron McKeddie, on Bacteriophage and the possible benefits of their use therapeutically for treating bacterial ailments.

As Cameron set out, Bacteriophage are viruses which kill bacteria and research shows they have the potential to replace antibiotics, which are proving to be increasingly ineffective in this respect.

He has been collecting, studying and researching this issue and gave an excellent t presentation of his arguments as to why Phage treatment should be included in our healthcare.

In the next academic session, Cameron will be heading off to university to continue his studies. I am sure he will do very well. He is an impressive young man who is a credit to his school.
