GOVERNMENT MUST ASSESS IMPACT OF PENSION CHANGES ON WASPI WOMEN
I challenged the UK Government to conduct an impact assessment on the effect of the changes to women’s state pension age on women born in the 1950s. It seems the Prime Minister’s promise to “see what we can do” to assist these women was empty and meaningless.
The rise in the state pension age for women born in the 1950s was made with little or no notice and has thrown thousands of those affected into penury and hardship. It is only right that the Government properly assess this impact and recognise the damage that is being done.
However, it seems that the Minister for Women and Equalities cares little about standing up for these women who have been robbed of their pensions.
