UK TORY GOVERNMENT FAILS TO SUPPORT BROADBAND FOR SCOTLAND

I highlighted the Tory UK Government’s complete and utter failure to allocate funding for broadband rollout in Scotland, leaving the Scottish Government make up the massive funding gap of £580m that is the responsibility of Westminster so that Scotland is not left behind.

The UK Government has contributed only £21 million, a mere 3.5% of the total funding for broadband in Scotland, with the Scottish Government providing £580 million. Broadband is essential to ensuring communities are connected and businesses are competitive, and the UK Government must step up and properly fund its rollout. It is time for the UK Government to step up to the plate on this issue and stop selling Scotland short.
