RAISING AWARENESS OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

Before the formal dissolution of parliament, I highlighted some of the great work that has been carried out locally in North Ayrshire & Arran to support women with endometriosis, and paid tribute to our endo warriors, with a special mention for Anne Devlin from Largs. I also paid tribute to the work done on this issue by Kenneth Gibson MSP for Cunninghame North.

One in ten women suffer from this painful and debilitating condition, and find their potential in life and in the workplace is lost because of it. The average gap between the onset of symptoms and a diagnosis makes it extremely hard for employers to adequately support staff who suffer from it, particularly in light of the need for time off for consultations and treatment. We need to keep shining a light on this illness to raise awareness and understanding.
