BREXIT TO HIT NORTH AYRSHIRE HARD

The Institute for Fiscal Studies has said that the UK is already £60 billion worse off as a result of Brexit, and the UK economy is now 2.5% to 3% smaller that it would have been had the Brexit process not been started. With one in every five people in North Ayrshire assessed as being vulnerable to the impact of Brexit, I asked the UK Government what advice they could give those of my constituents who will be adversely affected.

The response was unsurprisingly disappointing. To suggest that the impact of austerity measures introduced in 2010 didn’t turn out to be as bad as expected shows a complete lack of awareness about how this Tory Government’s policies affect ordinary people, and to liken our current situation with that of the financial crash does not bode well for any one of us.
