SCANDAL OF LOW UPTAKE OF PENSION CREDIT
I raised the very important issue of the uptake of Pension Credit among the older population. Two in five pensioners who are eligible for this support do not apply for it, resulting in over £7million of Pension Credit going unclaimed in my constituency alone. This is truly shocking and an indication of the failure of the DWP to adequately engage with the older generation. I challenged the Minister to do more, at a time when pensioner poverty is on the rise, to ensure pensioners are made aware of the support available to them so they can avoid unnecessary hardship.
