DIFFUSE INTRINSIC PONTINE GLIOMA (DIPG) AWARENESS DAY – 17th MAY
Today is DIPG Awareness Day 2019, and it is important that we raise awareness of this little-known but fatal disease. In light of this, I recently highlighted this rare type of cancer in Parliament and asked for the UK Government to outline its plans to fund research into this condition.
Unfortunately, prognosis has not improved for those diagnosed with DIPG in the past 40 years, and 40 children in the UK die of the disease every year. I asked the Minister to keep the House updated on measures to combat this disease and asked for reassurances that Government funding for Brain Tumour Research will directly benefit people suffering from DIPG.
