It was a real treat today to throw the first jack today to offically launch the season at Douglas Park Bowling Club in Largs, in beautiful sunshine.
The first day of the new season was very well attended with several new members joining the club.
I was given a very warm welcome by Club President, Charles McIntosh and the whole Committee who work so hard to make this club such a success.
I also had the opportunity to meet Life Member of the Club, Jim Mitchell, 98 years young, who is a wonderful advert for the healthy benefits of taking up bowling.
The pipers, who provided some lovely music, also helped to make this day a wee bit more special.
Thank you to all at the club for inviting me to share in your special inaugural day of the bowling season and making me so welcome. And thank you also for the lovely flowers. I hope that this club continues to go from strength to strength, with all the benefits it offers to the local community. New members always welcome.
