THREE TOWNS GROWERS AYRSHIRE POTATO DAY

I very much enjoyed attending the Three Towns Growers Ayrshire Potato Day in Saltcoats, Ayrshire Town Hall.

On offer were 40 varieties of seed potatoes, including the famous Ayrshire Early Epicure.

Seasoned growers were on hand with advice and information to novice growers, and workshops and stalls were also held were more could be discovered about local varieties of potatoes.

There was much interest in this event with a packed hall and lots of friendly faces.

I also enjoyed the chance to catch up with members of Three Towns Growers such as Maria Paterson-Kidd, her granddaughter, Ami Paterson, grandson, Brandon and daughter, Emma Paterson and, of course, her husband, George Kidd. I also enjoyed the opportunity for a blether with Denise McKenzie, Alan Pettigrew and his lovely wife, Anne (who was very pleased with her luck on the bottle stall!) as well as Margaret Sweeney, Elizabeth Sweeney and wee Adele.

Great to catch up with so many folk, who work tirelessly to help make our community better, at such a worthwhile event!
