THE COST OF FLAWED UNIVERSAL CREDIT TO SCOTLAND
Local Authorities in Scotland have spent more than £24 million mitigating the effects of the UK Government’s deeply flawed Universal Credit system, diverting funds from key local services. I asked today if the Secretary of State believed that to be acceptable, and if this had even been considered when this damaging system was dreamt up. Of course, I got no sensible answer, but there is no doubt that this is yet more evidence that this system should be stopped. It is simply not fit for purpose.
